Youth Services
YWCA Youth Services Our goal for the youth engaged in YWCA Youth Services is to help them gain the skills, self respect, and experiences needed to eliminate self-destructive behaviors and look toward a brighter future. We do this by building developmental assets, promoting healthy lifestyles, and creating a sense of hope.

A main component of YWCA Youth Services is our groundbreaking after-school youth empowerment "New Options" program. We provide Middle and High School youth tools for coping, achieving, and succeeding. The New Options mission is to enable youth in Santa Clara County to fulfill their dreams and goals, overcoming obstacles so they can create better futures for themselves and their communities. Our research-based curriculum meets current State of California standards.

In addition to New Options, we offer a 10-week (one hour per week) family life sex education class for students and/or parents in English and Spanish. These classes are offered in- and after-school to supplement Middle and High School coursework. The classes address the cultural and societal issues of human sexuality that children and families in our community encounter each and every day.

E-mail Graciela Valladares, Director, Youth Services, or call her at (408) 295-4011 ext. 210 to discuss our Youth Services programs for your Middle or High School, or to schedule our Family Life Sex Education classes for your school site, church, community center, or other group in our community.
