This important and well-known event given by local and regional YWCAs recognizes successful female executives and the companies that employ them for their outstanding achievements. Executive women nominated by leading companies and organizations in the Silicon Valley must meet a rigorous criteria. The nominator must be the CEO or highest-ranking local officer or director in the company or division/business unit. Applicants are evaluated through a blinded selection process by a committee of former TWIN Honorees, selection is based solely on their achievements.
Since 1985 the YWCA of Silicon Valley has been celebrating these companies and organizations for providing career opportunities for women in business and community leadership, the event demonstrating the esteem in which these companies hold these women. Tribute to Women Honorees represent many of the major companies in the Silicon Valley.
Each Honoree is recognized during the event with a professionally produced, pre-recorded 40 second video presentation of the award winner answering a question relating to her success as a business woman. In addition, the Honoree and her nominator are each awarded with a plaque, for personal display and for the company to display in her honor.
As one of the YWCA's primary fund raisers, the Tribute to Women Awards Program generates funds that support the YWCA's programs and services. Over 24,000 people receive services every year from the YWCA in the areas of Sexual Assault Intervention and Prevention Services, Child Care, Family Enrichment, Counseling, Social and Racial Justice, and Youth Development. Sponsorships are available for the event, for companies or organizations with an Honoree, or those wishing to honor these outstanding women in support of the programs and services of the YWCA of Silicon Valley.
