POSITION OVERVIEW:
Daily coordination of department activities, dissemination of responsibilities within the department, financial stability of the department, and community reputation of both the department and the agency as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the program is consistent with the YWCA Mission and Vision.
- Develops and implements a strategic plan for the department that aligns with the agency strategic plan.
- Develops, evaluates, and implements effective program procedures using “Best Practices” for the program whenever possible.
- Maintains high level of quality in programmatic systems, procedures, and practices.
- Maintains high standards of clinical, legal, and ethical practice within the department’s services.
- Ensures implementation of all goals of all department grants. Submits grant required documents to adjust when necessary.
- Collects, maintains, and cumulates all required data for reporting purposes, both for the agency and for any grant purposes.
- Reports are completed and submitted by deadlines for all grant requirements.
- In areas of funding and grant reporting, develops program objectives and evaluation goals as needed.
- Creates reports as needed/requested to demonstrate program abilities/needs.
- Interviews, hires, trains, manages, and terminates as necessary all staff needed for program implementation, both employees and contractors.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple levels of staff and support the engagement of volunteers in program activities.
- Maintains positive morale in the department.
- Participates in all required meetings on monthly, weekly, or daily basis.
- Professional level of communication both verbally and in writing at all times.
- Responds within 24 hours to all requests in like form of communication.
- Meets deadline requirements.
- Demonstrates ability to work with culturally and economically diverse population.
- Provides requested materials and information to CEO in a timely manner.
- Reports pertinent information to COO in a timely manner, and updates COO regularly about program operation.
- Works closely with the CFO in regard to department budget (managing, adjusting, justifying).
- Oversees, manages, and adjusts budget spending and department income to maintain a positive cash flow in the department.
- Creates YWCA invoices for the department, or oversees this duty, and provides copies of all invoices to CFO.
- Works with CFO and AP to justify expenditures within the department.
- Works with Payroll department to ensure all required paperwork is complete for all department employees.
- Works closely with Fund Development Department with their requests to support the program. All marketing materials, created within the department, must be approved by Fund Development before publicizing.
- Works with grant writer to aggressively seek funds to maintain program budget levels, to increase department worth whenever possible, and to continue to expand program reach.
- Works in the community to develop positive relationships with collaborations, committees, councils, consortiums, and the like that broaden the reach of the YWCA.
- Keeps abreast of new research and developments in the field and is aware of like programs in the community.
- Other duties as requested to support the development of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS SPECIFIC TO THIS DEPARTMENT:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Master’s Degree preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 4 years of work in the field of Domestic Violence.
- Must be certifiable in all associations’ mandated trainings, including but not limited to: Child Abuse Prevention and Mandated Reporting.
- Experience with grant funding required.
- Committed to advocacy and empowerment of victims, and victim safety.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Shelter experience.
- Trauma informed services.
- Preferred: Certification as a 40 hour trained CA. state DV Counselor.
- Submit to a background check.
- Two years of management responsibilities with demonstrated competence.
- Proven excellent budget management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic personnel laws and guidelines.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
COMPENSATION:
Full-time exempt position. Annual compensation range is TBD depending on experience. Benefits: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation each year, and retirement plan after two years.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsibilities include: Promoting, scheduling and facilitating educational workshops in assault prevention for children, teens and adults, providing crisis intervention and counseling services to victims of sexual assault and their significant others, and serving as an advocate for sexual assault victims throughout the reporting and criminal justice process. Provide training, support and guidance to prevention staff as they give presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent organizational, communication and public speaking skills are essential, as well as an ability to work with all ethnic and socio-economic groups and a variety of groups (especially youth). Good listening and interpersonal skills a must. A valid California drivers’ license and a car available for business use are required. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency, are a plus. Requires a minimum of a BA/BS.
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
Masters is Public Health; 2-5 years of experience in crisis counseling and/or legal advocacy; bilingual Spanish speaking.
JOB DUTIES:

- Implement training, supervision, and evaluations for prevention staff members
- Facilitate appropriate and culturally germane presentations to children, teens and adults of varying demographics in the community relative to the issues of sexual violence
- Administer presentations for police officers, licensed therapists, counselors, nurses, and other professionals on the issues of sexual violence
- Develop and update culturally competent curriculum for workshops
- Compliance with State of California Child Abuse Reporting Laws
- Network and liaison with schools and agencies to arrange classroom presentations
- Schedule schools and assign staff for prevention education presentations
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations to enhance the quality of services and increase program visibility with specific emphasis on underserved populations
- Prepare invoices for presentations and track payment receipt
- Oversee measurable outcomes of prevention programs
- Maintain grants through data collection and administration of quarterly and annual reports
- Assist in grant writing
- Attend monthly on-going trainings and management and department meetings, as requested
- Administer case management and advocacy services for sexual assault survivors involved in the criminal justice system
- Provide peer counseling to survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault
- Share responsibility for responding to crisis hotline (on-call response duties)
- Help recruit, train and maintain volunteer base
- Other duties as assigned
HOURS:

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The goal of the Project Inspire After School Program is to improve the academic achievement within an after-school setting. Serving four high schools throughout San José, Project Inspire will provide high quality academic support and project-based learning activities linked to classroom curricula and California State Standards. Project Inspire seeks to strengthen student’s foundation of basic academic skills, while providing them with a rich, high quality, life skills enrichment curriculum.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(including, but not limited to)- Ability to adapt to change when re-assigned to any of the other four high schools sites.
- Assist with recruitment of high school students into after-school program.
- Must bring a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to the Mission of the YWCA of Silicon Valley and to our Youth Services After-School Project Inspire Program.
- Responsible for creating, implementing, and effectively delivering YWCA-approved after-school academic and enrichment curriculums and project-based learning activities.
- Proactively engage, encourage, educate, supervise, and monitor approximately 20 students (at a 20:1 ratio) as a positive role-model during all program activities.
- Exhibit courteous and helpful behavior to students, staff, parents/guardians, school personnel, agency representatives, and the general public.
- Responsible for all equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of program areas.
- Carry out all verbal and written instructions, policies, protocols, and procedures of the school site, program, and overall YWCA agency.
- Must arrive on time and prepared to perform all job duties in a quality manner.
- Youth Specialists must memorize all new students’ names within the first 30 days of program’s start date, to reinforce program culture, rapport, identity, and unity.
- Ability to generate questions during trainings to enhance professional growth.
- Youth Specialist must actively take notes during any and all trainings and meetings in order to memorize important information and instructions.
- Responsible for memorizing and mastering all classroom management and intervention/mentoring skills to satisfactory level.
- Review and monitor daily Homework Logs to ensure teachers sign off on daily homework assignments.
- Document and maintain attendance records ensuring all students sign-in and out daily, during each hour of program and restroom breaks.
- Collect and turn in permission slips and student-attendance sheets to Site-Coordinator promptly.
- Teach, coach, and prepare students for quizzes until memory retention is achieved.
- Willingness to develop skills academically and professionally in order to improve performance, while seeking guidance from supervisors as needed.
- Attend all YWCA professional development trainings, daily check-ins with Site-Coordinator, and school related activities as appropriate.
- Work closely with Site-Coordinator to ensure that extended-day program integrates and compliments the regular school day, to ensure all program components meet the developmental and educational needs of all students.
- Role models appropriate behavior at all times, by maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity in performing all assigned duties.
- Demonstrates cultural competence and fairness when working with all students, parents, staff, volunteers, school personnel, and other outside stake holders.
- Responds promptly and respectfully to all requests by Site-Coordinator or YWCA Management, by specified due-dates.
- Demonstrates respect, non-judgmental listening skills, empathy, conflict-resolution skills, and appropriate verbal and physical boundaries with students.
- Demonstrates overall appropriate decision-making skills when prioritizing tasks and problem-solving; and, is responsible for providing a safe, healthy, learning environment for students at all times.
- Remain visible and alert at all times, especially during guest speaker presentations and during snack distribution times - to monitor proper student behavior.
- Submit a detailed weekly agenda to Site-Coordinator, outlining curriculum lesson plans and other planned activities for the week ahead.
- Report to the Site Coordinator any behavioral concerns and/or incidents involving the children in the program immediately prior to leaving campus for the day.
- Other duties as requested by management to support the program.

EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Certificate
- Currently enrolled in college and actively working towards a BA, or educational equivalent.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license & automobile insurance
- Must acquire basic First Aid Training and be certified in Infant/Child/Adult CPR within 30 days of hire date.
- All staff must successfully meet all Life Scan,Background Check, and TB Test clearance requirements, within 30 days of hire date.
- Flexibility and a team-work approach are essential, as is the ability to work independently.
HOURS & PAY:
- Program times: Monday through Friday 2:00PM-6:30 PM (depending on school site)
- Part-time: 20-29 hours per week (M-F within the hours of 2:00PM-6:30PM.), including some evenings and weekends as needed.
- For 39-weeks of the Academic School Year.
- Hourly Wage: $15 per hour.
